In studying film, I’ve focused on mapping the colonial roots of film in Ghana and Nigeria.

My dissertation project, which is the first ever scholarly work on the Dagbanli film industry in Northern Ghana, examined indigenous language film in Northern Ghana by parsing out the complexities of film production, distribution and reception

Feminisms

In a recent publication, I studied the way that Ghanaian feminist organizations solidarized with LGBTQI+ Ghanaians in the face of state-sanctioned violence.

I found that more work needs to be done to build an accountability praxis in the feminist movement.
